How to configure wireless HLAN service with Microsoft Windows XP service pack 2

Right click on the Network Connections icon

The Network Connections drop down menu appears.
Click on View Available Networks

Click setup a wireless network for home or small office
If –
You receive an error indicating Windows is not setup to control wireless networks or all options are grayed out, this indicates a 3rd party wireless connection software is installed on the PCor Windows ZeroWireless configuration is disabled.
This second issue can possibly be resolved by right clicking the Wireless Connection ICON, selecting properties then Wireless tab and check “Allow windows to control Wireless Network” If not, the customer should speak with the PC or Software manufacturer

The Wireless connection wizard will appear:
Click the Next button on the first screen

Select Setup a wireless network

Enter the SSID in the Network Name (SSID) field.The SSID will be the ISP registration number minus the first zero. Access the ISP registration through the purple toolbar located on the PT screen of the ICOMS account.
Select the radio button for Manually assign a network key(this is also known as the WEP key)

Enter the WEP key in the Network Key and the Confirm Network Key fields.
The WEP key will follow the format of:CC+SSID+CC+SSID For a total of 26 characters.Example: cc09008675309cc09008675309
Note: if the customer uncheck the box that states ” Hide Characters as I type” they will be able to see the actual characters as apposed to *** to hide what they are typing.

Select Setup connection manually
Click Next

Click Next

The view available network window should appear. The window to the right should now display the wireless connection along with a signal strength indicator and the text showing Connected.
